Understanding vocabulary is a very important piece of comprehension. Students can show their understanding of key words by illustrating them on the infographic. Copying a word and its definition from the dictionary makes very little, if any, difference in a student's understanding of a word. Here are a couple of posters from Peter Reynolds that make the meanings of these words very clear. http://www.fablevision.com/new/eduflash_archives_july10.html

Notice the fonts used, the color of significant words, and the illustrations. Something like this would be great on an infographic!

Another great tool is the Visual Dictionary. Students can use the illustrations for ideas in creating their own. Unfortunately copyright prohibits the copying of the graphics.
